Lumicor makes architectural resin panels.  All of their products are made using R4 recycled resins.  I like the fact that this is a green product and the design is appealing to me since it brings nature indoors.  this panel can be used in doors (as pictured above) or as stand alone wall panels.

From the website:
Illuminated polymer panels provide an entirely new dimension to your design pallet. Programmable, changeable color, edge lighting, signs and feature walls are possible with our new super bright LED system. These lamps generate very little heat and are extremely energy efficient.

These resin panels used for lighting makes for a very unique and modern look.  With different colored resin panels the design options are endless.

These SatinTech glass panels don't show fingerprints and are easy to maintain.  The use of glass as cubical partitions keeps the area nice and bright and lends a modern feel to an office space.

4.  Poured Glass by 3-form

3form USA
2300 South 2300 West, Suite B
Salt Lake City, UT 84119
801-649-2500

A stunning decorative, architectural glass with striking interlayers.  Poured glass is produced by encapsulating organics and fabrics with a poured cast resin. This artistic technique captures a beautiful 3D appearance without sacrificing the clarity or natural beauty of the interlayer materials. Based on liquid lamination technology: the lamination process allows even distribution of objects throughout the glass and it makes possible clean, exposed edges that allow for a frameless application.
I love the look of these panels as artwork on the wall.  They can also be used to cover entire walls, which would be an amazing accent wall.

Assignment 4

STONE

1.  Onyx - "Vulcan" slab or tile

Onyx is a translucent type of marble formed only in caves.  Generally categorized as re-crystallized limestone.

Available at:
Pental Granite & Marble
713 South Fidalgo St.
Seattle, WA 98108
206-768-3200

http://www.pentalonline.com/natural/marble/

I love the look of this piece of Onyx.  The unique pattern and colors make it ideal for a grand kitchen countertop.

2.  Marble - "Dynasty Brown" tile

Marble is similar to Onyx in that it is also geologically categorized as re-crystallized limestone.  It is sensitive to acidic foods and cleaners so an impregnating sealer is recommended to prevent staining.

Available at:
Pental Granite & Marble
713 South Fidalgo St.
Seattle, WA 98108
206-768-3200

http://www.pentalonline.com/natural/marble/

Whenever I think of marble, I typically imagine a large smooth white slab in a baker's kitchen or smooth white statues like Michelangelo's David. I did not realize marble came in this many colors and variations.  I like this beautiful dark brown color and since it comes in tiles, it might be a good choice for a floor.

3.  Slate/Quartzite - "Honey Tan" tile

Slate is the most affordable of natural stones, and is ideal for both modern and traditional designs, inside and outside.

Available at:
Pental Granite & Marble
713 South Fidalgo St.
Seattle, WA 98108
206-768-3200

http://www.pentalonline.com/natural/slate/

The color of these tiles is bright and earthy, which is why I like them so much.  They would work well as floor tiles in an entry way or maybe even a fireplace surround.

4. Concetto by CaesarStone - "Brown Agate"

I'm not exactly sure what Concetto is but what I know for sure is that it's stunning.  The description from the website states,
Concetto...is an unmatchable collection of extraordinary surfaces hand made from individually cut and bound semi-precious stones.  A harmonious blend of art, nature, and technology Concetto is created by fusing nature's hues and designs with individually cut semi-precious stones to form the ultimate luxury stone surface...

Assignment 2

Carpet and resilient flooring

1.  Cork flooring - Globus cork tiles

Globus Cork
Phone (718) 742-7264
Fax (718) 742-7265
Email: info@corkfloor.com

http://www.corkfloor.com/tiles.html
From the website:
Globus Cork tiles are unique for our 25 tile shapes and sizes which include rectangles, squares, hexagons and triangles. Any of our colours can be made in any of the tile shapes and sizes shown below. We've got more than 40 unique colours and are always developing more. For the greenest cork flooring, select the glue-down cork tiles. There is no off-gassing and no VOCs in the adhesive which is a water-based contact adhesive. If you are working on a LEED project or are just chemically sensitive, you'll want to use the glue-down cork tiles instead of cork floating floors. Our cork tiles are 3/16" thick or 4mm.

Cork is becoming a more popular choice for flooring because of its many beneficial characteristics, including being a "green" product with natural insect and mold repellent properties, noise reducing capabilities, comfort and softness, and beauty to name a few.  With cork tiles, an attractive pattern can be laid which adds a lot of visual interest.

Marmoleum is another great environmentally friendly resilient flooring available these days.  It is natural linoleum flooring that has no foul odors that off-gas, is "Asthma and Allergy Friendly" certified, and is also a SMART certified sustainable product.  I think marmoleum would work well in both residential and commercial settings.  It has natural bactericidal properties, does not stain, and is super easy to clean.  We installed marmoleum click tiles in our kitchen 2 years ago and are very pleased with its performance.

EverStrand carpet PET (polyethylene terephthalate) fibers are made from recycled plastic bottles in North America.  This concept of recycling plastic bottles is fascinating to me and what I like about this product is that it consumes no petrochemical resources, utilizes the by-products from the manufacturing process, and makes a positive global impact.
